Subclass 157 is a Resident Return Visa.

The main difference between Subclass 155 and Subclass 157 is the length of the travel facility – Subclass 155 offers a 5-year travel facility, while Subclass 157 offers a 3-month travel facility from the date of grant.

Eligibility:

  • If the individual lawfully spent a minimum of 1 day, and less than 2 years in the past 5 years in Australia immediately before applying for the visa
  • The individual had a compelling reason to leave the country
  • The individual was an Australian permanent resident or citizen the whole time they were present in Australia
  • Individuals who have been in the country for less than 2 years but have not established substantial ties to benefit Australia yet
